Tornado Alley

My living room looks like a tornado hit it. And I'm not talking about the tornados that exploded across Oklahoma last week. Unfortunately, there's nothing new about that.

The good news: My loan is approved. We are looking at closing on my house this Thursday! Woo hoo!

Although the house excites me, moving doesn't. Over the past two years, I've had to move Jolene's things ... Mom's things ... my things ... and sort through them all time and again. The thought nauseates me. So I decided to tackle the problem straight on and pack FIRST each day. Pack five boxes a day, six days a week, until I'm done. If I'm done early ... I can go ahead and move!

Today I packed my first five boxes. My bedroom is almost finished except for everyday things. Yeah! I'm mentally picturing how I want to decorate my new house. If only my funds matched my ideas!

Speaking of last week's tornados, I made the mistake of heading out during the middle of a hail storm. Bad storms often come up in late afternoon, which tends to be the time of day I'm ready to get out and about. Bad combination. So I took refuge in a furniture store and listened to the hail nail the roof until it sounded like it must collapse from the weight. Of course it didn't. My car didn't even receive a dent, and the roof on my new house wasn't damaged. Poor Jaran has to replace his roof. Ouch.

There was snow on the ground at last week's Colorado Christian Writers Conference. May snow is one thing I don't miss from Colorado; but all in all I've been struggling with homesickness and reminding myself Oklahoma is my home now. I choose to live in the present; I even bought address labels with bison instead of the Maroon Bells.

Happy May, everyone! Remember to leave a comment on any and all postings on my blog for a chance to win one of my books--details on side bar. I'm also giving away The Captain's Lady by Louise Gouge and Finding Jeena (sequel to The Other Daughter, contemporary women's fiction) by Miralee Ferrell (both authors featured in my March 25th blog).

Congrats on the big move. Thankfully, the worst of the storms missed us. Don't you just love Oklahoma in the spring!

Congrats on closing on the house! I know what you mean about packing, though. It made me want to just run & hide. But as much as I dislike the packing, it is the unpacking that I really struggle with. For some reason, all of those boxes just overwhelm me & I don't know where to start putting things - it is easier to just turn a blind eye & ignore them for awhile. We were lucky with yesterday's storm, only getting wind & rain. Our daughter received more hail at her house, but no more damage, thankfully. She is six miles north of us.

Hi, Darlene. So you like some old favorite books too? Your list of resons why is exceptional. So it is also a challenge is it not; to write what someday another reader won't be able to put down. May God direct your thoughts this day.
Oh, and are you serious, you would really look at a five page edit?
